BioI'm a geek to the highest degree, passionate about my interests and diverse in my tastes. As of this moment, I am a scientist in the employ of the state of New York, in the Department of Agriculture and Markets, microbiology division of the Food Safety laboratory. Our program tests foods from all across the state of New York, ensuring that products fall within our micrboial content guidelines to ensure the food of New York is safe for consumption. The bulk of the program consists of routine quality control checks on some 10,000 samples of dairy products a year, as well as specific pathogen testing and isolation in other foods. I'm a laboratory technician by title, but in reality I do exactly, on the nose, the job of a Bacteriologist. Hence, I refer to myself as such; sounds more impressive on a business card.
